What an unbelievable plot right? But it’s a very real story about Jeffrey Manchester (Channing Tatum), a man who became known as the “Roofman” after breaking into McDonald’s restaurants in an attempt to make ends meet as a struggling Army Ranger and single dad.

Manchester spent some time in prison for robbing McDonald’s … but escapes and lives inside a Toys ‘R’ Us for six months without anyone being wise to his plan. But as all plans go, love sometimes gets in the way… and that’s exactly what happens. After Manchester falls for a woman named Leigh (Kirsten Dunst) he starts to make mistakes and his life on the run starts to fall apart.

Based on stills released today by Paramount, it looks like we’re going to see quite a period-accurate recreation of Toys ‘R’ Us from the late 90s and for that I’m very excited. Yes, yes, the plot sounds incredible too – but come on, 90’s Toys ‘R’ Us was my jam! It’s about time it’s properly honored on-screen in a such a way!

The film also stars Ben Mendelsohn, LaKeith Stanfield, Juno Temple, Melonie Diaz, Uzo Aduba, Lily Collias, Jimmy O. Yank, and Peter Dinklage.

“Roofman” opens in theaters October 10, 2025 from Paramount Pictures.
